Cordless Circular Saw Battery Kits: Capacity, Chargers and Import Documents

Handheld circular saws: selection & sourcing

A cordless circular saw is only one part of a battery system. For a wholesale order, the pack, charger, supplied blade and service arrangements need their own part numbers. “20 V kit” is not a complete specification.

The most useful comparison is whether the proposed kit supports the customer’s actual workday. Capacity labels alone cannot establish runtime, cutting power or reliable charging under the intended conditions.

List the complete kit

Record the tool code, pack code, pack quantity, nominal voltage, capacity, marked energy, charger code, charger input and plug. Confirm the manual language and whether the packaging contains a bare tool or a ready-to-use kit.

Quote line What should be explicit
Saw Full model and regional suffix
Battery Pack model, quantity and electrical ratings
Charger Model, supply range, plug and approved pack family
Accessories Blade, wrench, guide, extraction adapter and case where offered
After-sales Replacement-pack route, charger support and fault procedure

A photograph of a large battery on a product page does not prove that the quoted kit includes that pack. Keep the configuration in the purchase specification.

Separate energy from runtime claims

Nominal watt-hours are approximately nominal volts multiplied by amp-hours. An illustrative 18 V, 4 Ah pack therefore represents 72 Wh. This arithmetic does not predict a guaranteed number of cuts, because the saw load, blade, material, temperature and protection system affect usable work.

DEWALT’s published explanation distinguishes its 20 V maximum initial voltage from 18 V nominal. Use the actual pack label and documentation for calculations rather than mixing maximum and nominal ratings. Similar voltage labels do not establish cross-brand compatibility.

Design a repeatable runtime trial

Specify the work material, thickness, blade, cut length, ambient conditions and starting battery condition. Record acceptable completed cuts, interruptions and any thermal or protection-related stops. Follow approved cooling and charging procedures throughout.

Compare the delivered configurations, not an upgraded demonstration pack against a lower-capacity production kit. Where a supplier advertises a cut-count figure, request the complete test conditions and treat that figure as a manufacturer claim until independently reproduced.

Review charging and service capacity

A second pack is useful only if charging availability and turnaround suit the work pattern. Check how many tools share each charger, where charging occurs and who inspects packs for damage. Request the manufacturer’s procedures for damaged, swollen or abnormal packs; do not put them back into service to finish a trial.

Avoid improvised battery adapters or modifications. Physical engagement does not prove electrical communication, protection coordination or manufacturer approval.

Obtain transport documents for the actual pack

UNECE’s lithium-battery test-summary framework identifies information such as manufacturer, laboratory, report identifier, model and test results. Ask for the summary applicable to the exact pack design, and reconcile its identifiers with the shipment documents.

Transport requirements depend on the shipment configuration, route and current rules. Have the carrier or qualified dangerous-goods provider confirm packaging, markings and documentation before dispatch. A test summary is not a general product-safety certificate or proof that any shipping method is allowed.

Use the kit as a serviceable product

Before building a range around a platform, identify replacement-pack availability and the process for charger or battery faults. A low entry price can create a poor customer experience if compatible replacements are unavailable later.

Use the handheld saw inquiry page to specify the complete kit and the inspection checklist to verify delivered contents.
